    While worldwide is facing a great challenge about COVID-19 virus but we still do not see many people wearing a face mask.  China spent 2 months time to successfully overcoming from this epidemic and now this unprecedented pandemic outbreak has swum worldwide.  Almost all nation is facing this life threaten virus now.

    Even the US, Europe, England, the most civilization area in the world also forced to take more aggressive measures to overcome this challenge.  China has demonstrated the world how to handle the pandemic, but this should not be the only way to fight with this virus. 

    From our previous article, what we learn from the COVID-19, I had summarized several effective actions carried out not only by China but also Singapore and Hong Kong.  Both countries have shown a good manoeuvre of the pandemic outbreak.  Korea could be another country which recently I found out to be successful in bringing down and contain the infected count.

    Wear Facemask

    Since the COVID-19 outbreak in China, all people are required to wear facemask in the public area while going out.  There is no excuse to go out without a facemask, period.  Facemask has become an epidemic prevention commodity.

    From many articles, we learn that face mask is the essential elements for keeping good personal hygiene, especially there is huge uncertainty in the public area.  I am not a biology specialist but we know that while comes to a clouded area, the air tends to be stagnated and humidity will go up.  The growth of bacteria and virus in that particular area increases exponentially.  The clouded places refer to the meeting room, bus, supermarket, public transport and much more. 

    To eliminate the spreading the viruses and bacteria to the public, wearing a face mask is the most simple and effective way.

    Face Mask and Sanitizer Solution

    Washing Your Hand

    I was seeing many people spending hundreds of dollar to purchase sanitizer solution however they are not wearing a face mask.  Hand sanitizer is good provided you are using it.  Means, after you are touching and uncertain substance, you are advised to sanitize or wash your hand. However, the face mask will get you protected every minute while you are properly wearing it.

    No doubt, we are not used to the facemask.  However, wearing a face mask should be good practice for maintaining good hygiene.  For people who are having flu symptom or sick, wearing facemask should be the basic manner to show respects to the public.  For those who are more cautious and trying to minimize the infection possibility, wearing a face mask is a batter choice too!

    How Frequent To Change Facemask

    For any ordinary woven type of facemask, we already recommend people to change in every 4 hours or whenever you are removing away the facemask.  The bottom layer always in touch with our mouth and nose, this layer will accumulate some moisture which eventually becomes a place promoting bacteria growth.  The outer layer is a water protecting layer, this layer always in contact with the environment; it should always accumulate with particle and dust.

    Let keeping a habit of keeping a pack of a facemask in our bag.  Whenever you feel you are not very certain about the space cleanliness, wearing a face mask is the immediate action.

    The spring season for the year 2020 is definitely a remarkable season in anyone life.

    Malaysia has in force Movement Control Order to preventing spreading of COVID-19 in the country, the Movement Control Order will be taking effective from 18-Mar-2020 till 31-Mar-2020.  Apart from the essential business allowed by the Malaysia government, all company and factory have to cease.

    Many business activities in Malaysia get affected, this includes Maxwaytec Engineering.

  • Counter Actions to Prevent Spreading Coronary Virus

    Coronavirus has caused an outbreak worldwide. No doubt China Wuhan is the highest occurrence however due to the people is moving especially during Chinese New Year season, the decease epidemic decease is spreading severely to world-wide.

    Due to the epidemic outbreak, Maxwaytec Engineering S/B has taken several precaution measures to prevent the virus from spreading especially we frequent visit our suppliers, factory and customers. Even we are not the first line doctor or biochemistry researcher, but we still feel that we should do our part during this outbreak session.

    Counter-action at Maxwaytec to improve hygiene during the meetup

    1. Perform daily temperature check, force to have sufficient rest if fever.
    2. Minimize Face-to-Face meeting. If a face-to-face meeting is unavoidable, we will report to customer/supplier about self-health & any visit to suspect decease outbreak area for the past 2 weeks.
    3. Wear Face Mask while visiting customer and suppliers.
    4. Avoid body touching during the meeting, such as eliminate shake hand habit during the meet-up.

    We have elaborated some basic application area for polarizer film, we would like to reveal the defects found on polarizer film together with possible cause.

    Mechanical Defect.

    The polarizer film comes in big sheet dimension, manufacturer will cut the film into desire size.  The film may encounter various mechanical damages if the manufacturer does not strictly follow handling precaution guideline.

    Various kind of surface scratches are the main mechanical defect we encounter if it does not handle properly.  Below are the main mechanical damages:

    Dimensional Defect.

    During cutting process, we have a set of operation guideline to ensure the cutting tools are set properly to ensure polarizer film is correctly cut.

    Mura Defect.  Mura is a kind of defect whereby the light is not transmitted as expected.  As the image shown, there already a black colour smear appears on the glass surface.  The black colour smear is because the polarizer surface already is destroyed.  The light is not properly transmitted and causing light distortion around the area.

    Why Polarizer Film

    Polarizer film is a commonly seen adhere on the glass surface. This is because we want to deliver a better image quality to the viewer.     There are some clue while come to polarizer film selection. Glass parameters definitely is the first consideration.

    The light emitted from the glass array is a scatter light. In this case, field engineer has to apply polarizer film on the glass surface in order to certain level of scattering light could be filtered. This is the role of the upper layer polarizer film.

    For some occasion, the field engineer may add another layer of polarizer film at the bottom of the glass. With proper selection, the scattered light could be filtered and left over the wording light array on the glass.

    For a more demanding user who requires better contrast image, will a reflection layer at the underneath layer. The reflection layer will further reflect the light and enhance the wording appearance on the glass.

    This is the reason why there are several layers of film to be laminated on the glass to achieve a better image quality.

    Polarizer Film Selection

    Since we are going to apply several layers of film on the glass surface, the film combination may become a challenge if the selection is not appropriate.

    As our earlier video show, while both polarizer angles are orthogonal to each other, it means no light transmission. An experienced field engineer will select appropriate polarizer film with dedicate view angle to ensure the image lighting transmission from the glass is flawless.

    If an unwanted light is not filtered and transmitted to the user eyeballs, it considers light leaking. In this case, the angle of the film comes into the role.

    Everybody should agree with me that the development of courier service is one of the key factors promoting many businesses through internet.  In Maxwaytec Engineering, we have a portion of our product is shipping to our customer via courier service.

    Because of our product’s value, we always choose a reliable and good reputation courier service to carry out the shipping job.  UPS is our main international courier service provider for our overseas customer.

    This time, we encounter a missing parcel incident while shipping with UPS.

    Background of the Shipment

    Maxwaytec Engineering is shipping a box of PVA sponge roller to our overseas customer.  As usual, we attach the Product Tax Invoice, Delivery Order and Packing List together with the parcel.

    Since we are having an account with UPS, we just call up the UPS office to arrange for a pick-up service.  UPS is a well know courier service Provider Company and they have very good networking through out Malaysia.  They manage to pick up the parcel within the same day.

    As a proof of delivery and transferring goods, Maxwaytec is given a copy of Consignment Note with AWB tracking number for our future reference and tracking.

    Tracking the Goods

    Maxwaytec Engineering track the goods delivery route since we start shipping the parcel, from the UPS system, we notice a missing info message appears in the UPS system.  We are talking the initiative calling UPS check about the info missing however we were told to wait until further notice.

    After several days, we were told the parcel may loss but UPS will investigate and try their best to locate the parcel.  This is quite upset to hear this news but we still very confident on UPS as they should locate the parcel.

    After almost 2 weeks waiting, we were told the parcel was lost and unable to locate where it is.  We were really shock and totally upset about the reply as we don’t see the initiative from UPS to locate our parcel.

    Compensation of Lost Parcel

    Now the parcel is missing and we have to negotiate with them about the compensation for missing parcel.  Since we do not buy goods insurance for the parcel, we were told by UPS that they could only compensate us the amount equivalent to the shipping charges instead of goods value.  This has caused a great lost to Maxwaytec Engineering.

    Through our discussion with UPS, we could only talk to the front line receptionist who always uses UPS company policy stopping us for challenging their findings.  They persuade us to make the lost parcel claim in order to close the case however we insist we should get:

    1. An official written report from UPS about the Lost Parcel
    2. Talk to PIC Manager to ensure no way to trace back the missing parcel

    After our long time negotiation, UPS manage to give us a written report about the lost parcel.  However they still do not want us to get contact to the Manager who signs on the report.  This makes us feel frustration about the UPS service.

    What We Learn from the Missing Parcel

    We learn everyday or at least we have to learn from mistake or incident.

    1. The lost parcel incident also reminds us that we have to re-consider our overall logistic procedure and include insurance coverage when necessary.
    2. Discuss with customer about the delivery term and Incoterm.
    3. Cannot rely on the status findings shows on the tracking sheet.

    This is a real incident we are facing from our daily operation.  We are putting up the incident here is to share with our reader to share our experience about lost parcel.

    Material

    A test probe is a brass metal or stainless steel metal with gold plated, this include the music wire spring which located at the inner portion of the pin.

    The tiny probe shall be installed in a dedicated socket before it install on the tester.  After the tester install with the socket, it could use to test the relevant chip,  QFD or PC board.

    Semiconductor Test probe or known as pogo pin is a common tool use in PCBA and PCB industry. Even though some of the test probe application has been replaced by fine wire tool, but there are still a wide application of test probe.

    Basic Structure of Test Probe

    A Test probe or pogo pin consists of 3 major components:

    • Pin or plunger
    • Tube
    • Spring

    The plunger and tube are made of brass material and the spring mostly comes in stainless steel wire material. Further more, both the plunger and tube surface will be coated with nickel plating and cover with gold film.

    Sanding sponge is a new product launched in the market, since we develop and launched this product, we start seeing new seller coming out similar product in the market.  We receive call or email asking us about our sand sponge product quality.

    It is never been easy to launch a new product like sand sponge in the market.  3M sanding sponge sometime ago with high price margin, and Maxwaytec Engineering want to bring this product with broader application.  Maxwaytec Engineering has spent a substantial amount and effort in sand sponge development process.  We are very glad seeing more marketers and manufacturers get involved in these sanding sponge products, at least to show us many people buy the concept.  We are very certain about our product quality and we would like to share with you some simple guideline while you are looking for sanding sponge.

    Maxwaytec Engineering has identified quality aluminum oxide as the abrasive used in sand sponge. This aluminum oxide has segregated into 3 difference grid size. The abrasive should be properly segregated to ensure the surface smoothness after the polish process.

    • Coarse abrasive. A mesh 30 considers as coarse abrasive. This coarse abrasive sanding sponge is best used for wood surface polishing and removal.
    • Medium size abrasive. Mesh 50-100 consider as medium scale abrasive.
    • Fine abrasive. Mesh 100, 120 consider a fine abrasive. We recommend this fine abrasive sponge to be used in ordinary household surface polishing or stain removal.

    Resin Used in Sanding Sponge

    Resin is one of the main composition for determine sanding sponge quality.  Many unapproved resin was selected and used in the purpose of cost selection.  However a quality resin should fulfill the below requirement:

    • Environmental friendly and user friendly.
    • Able to hold the abrasive prevent over drop-off during normal application.

    Removal efficiency for Sanding Sponge

    There are several criteria we could consider while choosing the sand sponge:

    • Abrasive size. Select an appropriate abrasive size to get maximum removal rate.
    • Surface smoothness or roughness. Always use coarse grain size before using fine grain size abrasive.
    • Polish in Wet Condition. Try to polish the surface at wet condition instead of try polish. One of the major advantageous for sand sponge is able to work under wet condition.  There are several strong point why we recommend to work under wet condition:
      1. Less powder removal flying around.
      2. Surface smoother than dry polish.
      3. Reduce sludge conglomerate in between the abrasive.
